James Victor Simon was born March 19, 1956 in Bishopville, SC to Joseph R. Simon and the late Vivian F Simon. He received his education in the Lee County, SC school system. He graduated from Bishopville High, Class of 1975.
James joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Bishopville at an early age. Upon graduating high school , he migrated to Newark, New Jersey in search of a job opportunity. James was employed by London Furniture Company and later Brantley Moving Company after receiving his CDL license.
James was known to some as Kuttabourk/ Weezyanna and to some, because of his Smokey Robinson voice, he was also known as Smokey Jr. No matter what you called him, he was a person that lived life his way.
James departed this earthly life on April 10, 2019 at St. Michael's Hospital, Newark, New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian F. Simon and his brothers, Joseph B. Simon, Rodney B. Simon and Derrick L. Simon.
James leaves to cherish his memories; his father, Joseph R. Simon of Bishopville, SC; son, Victor Lequan Isaac of New York; grandchildren, Al-Terek Isaac, Aaliyah Jane Isaac, Malaysia Shaquanna Tiara Thompson, Zaniya Danae Dorothy Isaac and Miana Victoria Issac; sisters, Delores Simon (Skeet), Corinthia Simon Casey (James), Deborah Simon Reid, Julia Simon Young (Jack) and Vivian C. Simon (Michael); adopted daughter, Nikia D. Isaac; nieces, nephews and cousins that were reared in the Simon home as his sisters and brothers; aunts, Carrie Simon Dizzley of Bishopville, SC and Shirley Simon Wilson of New York City; and uncle, Roland Simon of Bishopville, SC.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 17, 2019, Perry Funeral Home, 34 Mercer Street
Newark , New Jersey, with Minister Michael Thompson, presiding and Pastor Leon Dizzley, eulogist. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, New Jersey.
