Obituary for Julia Mae Charles (Boyd)

Mrs. Julia Mae Charles was called from labor to reward on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Prisma Tuomey Health Care Hospital, Sumter, South Carolina.

Julia was born on August 11, 1946, in Lee County. She was the daughter of the late Harman and Ella LaBoo Boyd. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County.

She met the love of her life, Mr. Thomas (See) Charles, Jr., and was later united in holy matrimony in 1967. From this union, one child, Vanessa, was born.

Julia was a hard worker. Her passion was working outside in her flower garden. She loved entertaining family and friends in her home. Julia loved her dog, Lola.

Julia was employed for many years at Bishopville Manufacturer and later Craig Industry in Lamar, South Carolina.

Julia leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Vanessa Onither Charles of the home; one grandson, Raquan Jones of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Flossie (Earnest) Johnson of Bishopville, South Carolina; two brothers, Johnny Dean (Evette) Boyd of Baltimore, Maryland and David Boyd of Bishopville, South Carolina; three brother-in-laws, Willie Norwood (Priscilla) Charles of Camden, South Carolina, Laddie Charles of Bishopville, South Carolina, and Harry Davis of Santee, South Carolina; five sister-in-laws, Claire Charles, Sadie McDowell, and Lessie Mae Peterson of Bishopville, South Carolina, Betty Mae Andrews and Ada Bell Boyd of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a Goddaughter, Shawntel Boyd; and a special neighbor, Annie Mae McMickle.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Charles, Jr; her parents, Herman and Ella LaBoo Boyd; her her in-laws, Thomas Charles, Laura Charles and Walter Charles, Sr.; five brothers, Reverend David Boyd, Jack Boyd, Calvin Boyd, Harmon Boyd, Jr. and James Boyd; three sisters, Ida Mae Kelly, Elouise Woody, and Janie Payne.

The last to proceed her in death was the other love of her life, her dog, Lola.
