RODNEY'S LIFE JOURNEY
Sunday, March 1, 2020, God stretched out His hands and took his child home. Rodney Jackson was given to us on August 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born to the late Sarah Hickmon Jackson and Willie Rob Wilson and was reared by his maternal grandparents, the late Isaiah and Bessie Hickmon. He was nurtured by the Churchwood Community in Bishopville, SC until the age of nine. He moved to New York City in 1967. He made life long childhood friends in the St. Nicholas Park, Harlem Community. He graduated high school and attended Adelphi College for a year.
At the age of 19, he joined the United States Navy. He retired as Chief Petty Officer after 24 years of service. Rodney's military experience allowed him to travel the world. He forged lifelong friendships and memories along the way.
Upon retirement from the military, he became a full time employee for the State Farm Insurance Company and retired from State Farm.
In 2014, he became employed by the Internal Revenue Service. He was looking forward to his final retirement.
Rodney held a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. He was confident in the Love of his family and friends. He was a humble and patient man who was connected to all of his first cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. He was proud of his sons and adored his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memories his three sons: Rodney, Jr., (Tashna) of Mansfield, Massachusetts; Ryan and Reginald (Lizmar) Jackson, both of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Orlando, Isabella, Reagan, Cameron and Carlos; sisters, Mary Hannibal, Jackie (Dennis) Stephens, Rita Wilson and Michelle Wilson; a brother, Terrence Wilson; step-mother, Rochelle Wilson; two maternal aunts, Mozell Isaac and O'Tealia Hickmon; a mother figure, Mrs. Lena Lindsay; and two special cousins, Deborah Wilson and Larry Wilson.
