Obituary for Elias "Neanny" Johnson, Jr.
Mr. Elias Johnson, Jr., affectionately known as "Neanny," transitioned to his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC.
He was born on January 17, 1939 in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Elias "Mooter" Johnson, Sr. and Rosa Lee Thomas Johnson. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age. He attended Dennis High School.
Elias was married to the late Emma Jane Holloman Johnson and they resided in Bishopville, South Carolina. He worked on construction as a very skillful and talented brick mason until he retired. He was a very hard worker with dependable work ethics.
He enjoyed fishing and congregating with his friends and family. Elias was willing to help others with handyman projects. He loved cowboy movies and wrestling.
Elias was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings; John Henry "Sonny Boy", Daryl, Rosa Mae, and Shirley Mae Johnson.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, one daughter, Brenda Johnson of Ogden, UT; one son, Sidney Shannon of Bishopville, SC; two stepdaughters, Mary Melton of Columbus, OH and Dr. Sandra (Derrick) Wells of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Isaac Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC and Jackie Johnson of Fort Sill, Oklahoma; two sisters, Thomasena (Harold) Thompson of East Orange, NJ and Mary Lou (Curley) Black of Spanish Lake, Missouri; three brothers-in-law, Judge Holloman of Linden, NJ, J. L. Holloman of Columbia, SC and Bishop Isaac Holloman of Bishopville, SC; three sisters-in-law, Eva Mae Battles of Sumter, SC, Annie Bell Powell of Hartford, CT and Evangelist Marie Holloman of Raeford, NC; one grandchild; 5 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; special cousin and friend, Deacon Irvin Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
