Obituary for Dorothy Ann Stephens

The matriarch of the family, Dorothy Ann Stephens better known as "Dot", 71, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her home.

Born in Bishopville on February 7, 1949, she was the daughter of Roosevelt and Helen Scarborough and raised by her grandparents, Hattie and James Stevens. "Dot" was educated in the Lee County School system and was a 1967 graduate of Dennis High School. (Go Wildcats). After graduation, she relocated to Washington, DC where she joined her parents and siblings.

She took on various jobs while in Dc for many years and then made the decision to come home. Upon her return to her home she obtained a job in the same school system where she was educated and became a computer lab specialist and keyboarding instructor at Lower Lee Elementary School.

She is survived by two sisters, Rosalind D. Scarborough and Tijuana l. Scarborough; four nieces: Santosha Scarborough, LaKeisha Holloway, Trineice and Trinette Scarborough and Najuma Thames; five nephews: Larry, Lorenzo, Waseem, Troyell, and Torris Scarbough ; two uncles, Cal Stevens and Curlee Scarborough; one aunt, Lula Mae Scarborough, two very special friends, Sally Reddick and Debra Sutoon, and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
